What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

The highlight was the tour of Seville and the uphill treks. The most memorable moment was the picnic lunch which was organised by Sasha and Craig. I really enjoyed the hot weather and the uphill treks were challenging but very enjoyable and great for improving overall fitness. Seville was delight to see, it has so much history and character. Sites worth seeing are the Alcazar, Cathedral and the Plaza de Espana. The architecture is breathtakingly beautiful!

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Craig was very informative and spoke Spanish well. I learnt about cork production. Prior to this trip I thought cork was a man made substance! He was very helpful if you needed advice. Both Craig and Sasha were very hospitable and provided a good breakfast during our stay in their guest house.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

Be prepared for the uphill treks especially in hot weather. Take plenty of water and remember to visit the gym prior to booking this trip as some places can be challenging.

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

The highlight of the tour was the blazing hot temperature and the challenging uphill treks. I wanted it to be hot and the weather was perfect. I enjoyed the mountain hikes and also loved the picnic that Sasha had prepared towards the end of the tour. We had a day tour to Seville which was excellent. Castano del Robleda is a small place but the surrounding villages are well worth a visit. There are a few restaurants in Castano del robleda but the food is of a very good quality. We also attended the local religious festival and it was great to see the varied and colourful Spanish outfits that everyone was wearing.

The tour leader was very informative and loved to talk about the local cork trees and cork production as well as the local supply chain and industry of the 'jamon'. Before this tour I thought cork was a man made substance! Craig was lively and entertaining and spoke Spanish well with an authentic Spanish accent. Both Craig and Sasha were very hospitable during the entire stay and provided a good breakfast.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

There are a lot of uphill hikes which I personally very much enjoyed, however, some of the uphill hikes can be challenging if you are not very fit although they are manageable at a slow pace. I would advise booking in a session at the local gym prior to going on this holiday. The weather was very hot in early September so take plenty of sunscreen.

The peace and quiet on our walks plus stunning scenery. It was also a privilege to be able to be present at the religious festival held nearby on the first Sunday. It was awe inspiring.

Excellent. Well organised and very well informed of local history.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

Be prepared for a few "tough" uphill walks. They can be daunting but you can go at your own pace. There is no pressure to go faster.

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

Due to the local way of life evening meals are taken late. Do not expect to start eating in the evening until gone 9pm or even later. The local beer is great and is available everywhere - even in the remote villages you visit. I would recommend this tour to all walkers. The accommodation is great and the family pets adorable!!!

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

Attending a festival amongst various local villagers in traditional dress and livery with their beautiful horses. Visiting a hilltop mosque with magnificent views. Feeding a friendly Donkey cucumber and cake. A day trip to Sevilla and on the last day a delicious picnic and well earned rest. Finishing each trek felt like a great achievement! Best of all I lost 7lbs in weight!

His passion, pride and enthusiasm for his local village, history, culture and people was apparent in his many spontaneous talks. I am now an expert on cork production!I particularly enjoyed the talks on Moorish history and culture of the places we visited. A good hospitable guide.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

This tour is noted as low to moderate. I found the gradients quite steep at times both uphill and downhill. Terrains varied, stony, twiggy, sandy and sometimes hard dried mud. Take sturdy walking boots, plenty of sunscreen, good hat and walking pole. The temperatures in September were very hot making the walks very challenging.

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

The guesthouse was comfortable and hosts Craig and Sasha very hospitable. The village is very small, one shop and a couple or so good restaurants. Their are some very lovely neighbouring villages. This part of Spain is known as 'Jamon' country and 80% of the menu consists of Jamon with everything inc our bit of cod! Overall I found the locals from Robledo to Sevilla to be absolutely lovely - hospitable and helpful. Our group was also lovely.

I didn't realise how many guises 'jamon' can take!

Leader

Craig was very knowledgable & extremely helpful. We stayed at his B&B and it was perfect.

Tips

It's a rural area of Spain where English isn't widely spoken. Learning some basic phrases will help. It's was good fun using my limited Spanish along with 'charades' to communicate with the locals (and of course they appreciate that you are trying - even when you get it wrong!)

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"Getting up high in the hills (not exactly mountains) and eating a picnic overlooking nothing but hills and valleys was inspiring.
Certainly the best food I have had in Spain, and some of the best food I have ever had anywhere. This was a very unexpected bonus.
On another day eating sandwiches whilst sheltering from the rain sitting under a bridge was certainly memorable. "
