What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

Dubrovnik - A UNESCO World Heritage site and it's easy to see why. A typical Mediterannean Coastal town, Limestone walls, terracotta roofs, picturesque harbours and beaches with clear blue waters, combined with an old town full of history. Split - Historically interesting and stunningly picturesque. The city is small by our standards but one of the largest in Croatia, it is centred around the Diocletians Palace, which is still being restored today. Plitvice - The place I was looking forward to the most and the place that surpassed my expectations. On the UNESCO World Heritage list, Plitvice is a stunning national park with 16 natural lakes set in a large forest and brimming with wildlife and beautiful waterfalls.

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Jakov knew all of the local places to eat and was full of handy tips to keep away from the crowds. You could see that eh was very organised and did a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure the tour ran smoothly and he has a great cheeky smile.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

On your free time in Dubrovnik I recomend getting up early and walking around the city walls, it is much quieter and cooler at this time of the day. It took me about 1 hour 45 to walk around the walls at a very slow pace and taking lots of photos. You will get the best photo opportunities from the walls. You can also take a cable car to the top of the hill for great photo opportunities and less walking and for a different view, take a trip on one of the boats from the harbour, very cheap and worthwhile.

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

Plitvice National Park is ideal for everyone as it allows a number of different walking options from 2-3 hours up to 8-10 hours if you so choose. There is a network of road trains and boats that will take you between different parts of the park if you don't want to walk for the whole day and these are very frequent. My preffered part of the park for scenery was the lower and middle lakes where there are hundreds of waterfalls, within a very short distance of each other. If are able to visit these in the morning and come back also in the afternoon I would highly recommend it as the park tends to quieten down after lunch time.

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

Plitvice Lakes and elephite islands boat trip

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Friendly but shy and this lead to us not getting exact information we needed. It also led to a lot of the group having to ask questions all the time. Seemed a little disorganised at times

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

I would definately recommend the elephite islands day trip from Dubrovnik and go up in cable car above Dubrovnik old town. Take comfortable shoes as quite a lot of walking involved. Also, best to have your own guide book as a good amount of free time given to explore aswell as organised tour time.

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

The group was too large (20 in ours) I feel the tour leader could have been a bit more informative & a welcome meeting on the first morning with an overview of the week would've been helpful but the first group meeting for the night of arrival was cancelled & when we met her on the first morning we just handed in our insurance forms and that was it!! Also, I shared a room with another female and everytime we checked in to a different hotel we'd get a double room not a twin, so we'd have to sort out a swap with someone in a twin as the guide seemed incapable of doing this; really the last thing you need when you've been travelling all day and getting to your hotel at 7pm each night!

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

We had an amazing dinner with a local family in Omis tasting homemade wine and fabulous food.  We also had a superb time on the sail portion of the trip relaxing, swimming and visiting some fantastic islands.  We learned a lot of history about Croatia and some Croatian language.  We thoroughly enjoyed our hiking day in Pliviche National Park.
