A great trip led by an efficient, knowledgeable, interesting and warm tour leader. I felt as though I have seen a small part of the 'real' China. I would suggest that the majority of the 'optional' site seeing is included and paid for in the main holiday. As it was the group of 6 all went on the offered activities which meant having a significant amount of cash available (if you include meals etc). I did ask about ATMs and it was suggested that we take cash which can be a concern when you are carrying £500 or so around with you. Although it was classed as 'busy' I think I would extend the holiday by 2 days to give more 'down' time and it would still be fairly busy but not hectic! The first hotel although great location was only OK, the rest were good or great.

This trip is excellent for hitting the highlights of China. You can see the Great Wall, the Terracotta Army and visit Shanghai in only a handful of days. It's perfect for people with a limited number of days.

Top tips:

Money for China always comes in 100 yen notes in the UK, break a note immediately upon arrival, as you'll need one yen notes for bottles of water and the local bus.

Do visit the Muslim Quarter street market in Xi'an.

Expect very long ques at the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai. You'll need to que for an hour on both the way in and the way out!
