What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"Bangladeshi people must be the world's friendliest and it was a huge privilege to visit before it is ""discovered"".  Had I known the holiday would be one non-stop modelling assignment, I might have packed a few gladrags!  International relations got as far as ""Salaam Aleikum"" and ""BBC"" but huge smiles and goodwill  did the rest.
Most would rate the Taj Mahal as the trip's highlight, but for me it was the stunning welcome we received when two of us called at a complete stranger's house to use their loo. The entire family appeared, as though we had honoured them with our presence, and treated us with immense kindness, rebuffing my pathetic attempts to pay.  All they asked for was a quick picture and we left with smiles all around (but don’t try this one at home!)

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

A fascinating journey through Bangladesh and Northern India using bus in Bangladesh and Indian Railways in India. Daily distances were quite long, but frequent stops gave a good incite to Bangladesh tourist attractions and life style. A good day in Kolkatta and in Varanasi Ganged out with visits in the evening, during the day and in the early morning. Indian railways were an experience in themselves for time in Agra and Delhi were severely restricted due to very late running trains, due to fog!

Our Response

This is one of our ‘Simply’ tours, all with a ‘Q’ prefix, which as explained in the Tour Notes  involve the use of public transport, and provide the accommodation and the services of a tour leader, but leave most of the non-travelling time free for customers to make their own choices about how to spend their time (and money).  This particular tour offers more included activity than others, as Bangladesh is not as easy as India for travellers to make visits on their own to sites.

The Bogra hotel is part of a government-owned chain – functional but basic, which we think appropriate and good value for this tour.  We will ask our tour leader to ensure that our groups get rooms at the rear of the building – we know Bogra is a busy town and the locals a bit heavy-handed on the horns!

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

The people of Bangladesh - they were very friendly, curiouse and undemanding.  A crowd would often gather and just look at you, sometimes taking photos.  They were most happy to pose for a photo with you and loved every bit of attention from you or any interaction you allow.  No one tried to scam you and seldom tried to sell you stuff.  Secondary highlight was Taj even though I've been there before.  This time it was a first thing in morning visit and our guide got us there in time to be the first ones in.  Great photo opportunity.
