Small-group cultural discovery holidays with Explore
We offer hundreds of cultural discovery holidays to extraordinary destinations all over the world; from bucketlist favourites like India and Italy to more unusual, less-visited destinations like Kazakhstan and Lebanon.
Our cultural discovery holidays allow you to get under the skin of your destination. The average group size on these small-group tours is just 12, meaning you'll have like-minded travellers with you, but not too many to disrupt your trip.
Included in our cultural discovery tours are our festival departures. Visiting a festival is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in the culture of a destination. We run trips to well-known festivals like the Pushkar camel festival in India, as well as more unusual and less-known festivals like the eagle hunting festival in Mongolia.
Food and drink is also a big part of our discovery holidays. From sampling cheeses and wines in Italy to eating with a Berber family in Morocco, our itineraries are designed to ensure that you don't miss out on trying local food and drink on your trip.
We specialise in unusual holidays to off-the-beaten-track destinations away from the tourist trail. You'll of course get to visit the must-see highlights of a country, but we'll also include other hidden gems that we've discovered - we know it's these unique experiences that will make your holiday the best it can be and create lifelong memories. We craft our itineraries to include once-in-a-lifetime experiences like seeing the Taj Mahal at sunrise before the crowds arrive and meeting a Geisha in Japan.
Unusual and unique accommodation
At the end of a busy day's exploring, the places you stay are an important part of your trip. Wherever possible we stay in locally-owned and -run accommodation, in great locations. Where it adds to the experience, we'll stay in unusual accommodation; from home stays in Cuba to a stay in a traditional yurt in Kyrgyzstan, you'll get to stay in breathtaking locations and interact with local people, learning about their way of life and sampling local food.
Expert local leaders
On our discovery tours you'll be led by a local tour leader. Not only do our guides take the hassle out of your travel, organising the logistics of your trip, they also have expert local knowledge. They will share their knowledge about the history, culture, cuisine and local customs of your destination.
Responsible travel is an essential part of our discovery tours. We ensure that the people who work for us are treated and paid fairly, and that local people and wildlife are respected and supported. Find out more on our responsible travel pages.
