South Africa enjoys a mild climate throughout the year, making it a fantastic year-round destination for family holidays. Summer runs from November to March, with temperatures averaging from 24°C to 34°C. April and October are typically warm and sunny. Winter can be a pleasant time to visit with fewer crowds, though the weather can be fairly cold – often dropping as low as 0°C, though more often between 5°C and 10°C depending on where you are in the country inland areas in particular can be prone to overnight frosts which warm up as the day progresses.
