Tell us about yourself

I spent 20 years working as a translator from English and German into Spanish and Catalan, whilst I was also climbing big mountains, mountain biking and competing in trail running and orienteering races. In a way, I was leading a "2-headed" life. My hobbies and my natural skills merged perfectly as soon as I started both coaching and guiding about 10 years ago: firstly, in trekking and mountaineering and, later, with Explore!

Which Explore tours do you lead?

I lead walking and trekking tours including the Camino de Santiago, Canary Islands Walking, and Walking in Portugal - Remote Coastal Trails.

How long have you worked for Explore?

I’ve worked for Explore since 2022.

What is your favourite local food?

My favourite local food is Spanish Iberian ham, and gazpacho.

What do you most love sharing with Explore groups?

I love sharing my personal stories, in correlation to my country’s modern history and our Spanish (very diverse) way of life.

What are you most proud of in your country?

I’m most proud of the openness and friendliness that most Spanish people show, as well as their cheerful attitude.

What do travellers find most surprising when they visit?

They are very surprised when they learn about the big differences between the regions that shape the current Kingdom of Spain: their different languages, their music and dances, their traditional dishes, their distinctive landscapes and even their climates...
