Jenny Hendry, Head of Tailormade “A round-the-world trip inspired me to work in the adventure travel industry and – ten years later – I haven’t looked back. My adventures have continued: From working on school projects in Kenya, enjoying two months seeing the hidden side of Cuba and trekking the trails and mountains of Peru and Morocco. Next stop? Turkey!”

Rena Perri, Tailormade Sales Team Leader "One of my childhood ambitions was to travel to every continent in the world. So far I’ve managed 6 (just Antarctica to go!) and around 40 countries. To name just a few - my passion for wildlife has led me to East Africa, the Galapagos, India and Australia whilst my enjoyment of walking and nature has seen me trekking the Inca Trail, various mountains in Europe and a somewhat unchartered trek in the wilds of Khao Sok in Thailand! I’ve worked in the Travel Industry for a number of years, helping other people to create their own lasting memories, and have degrees in Zoology and Environmental Policy." |

Sarah Slocomb, Regional Specialist for the Middle East “I have worked in the travel industry for 8 years; starting off with an apprenticeship in a travel agency, which earned me an NVQ qualification in Travel Services. Since joining Explore I’ve enjoyed every second. I started off working in the groups department before moving over to the Tailormade team, and I have had the opportunity to travel to some fantastic places across several continents; my adventures in the Middle East being some of my favourites. A few of my most memorable experiences would be sleeping under the stars in the White Desert in Egypt with just me and a sleeping bag, exploring the old city of Ghadames in Libya; now an UNESCO world heritage site, and last but no means least, floating in the Dead Sea in Jordan!"

Chris Ellis, Regional Specialist for Asia
“From a young age I’ve always had itchy feet to get out there and see what the world has to offer. After finishing college I took a year out to indulge this desire, and it was on this trip was where I fell in love with Asia. This continent wooed me with its exotic sights, smells and sounds, along with its rich cultures and friendly, engaging people. Asia has something for everyone with lush rainforests, a host of wildlife, tropical beaches, snow topped mountains and colourful temples to name just a few. I have been at Explore for nearly 5 years now helping people choose their perfect holiday, and in that time I have taken a few of my own! Some of my fondest memories are meeting the smiling Sherpas whilst trekking up to Everest Base Camp, taking in the awe-inspiring sunset over Angkor Wat, and cycling through the village communities along the Mekong Delta. Oh, and how can I forget Scuba diving in the tropical reefs of Koh Phi Phi...!"

Hanna Holmes, Regional Specialist for the Americas
“In 2003 I set off on my first big adventure backpacking around South America, New Zealand, Australia and Thailand and, during this trip, I discovered my love of travelling. When I got back I began working for my first travel company and have been working in travel ever since. I have been lucky enough to visit Chile, Brazil, Peru and many places in Latin America; my biggest ambition is to see the Amazon in each country (at the moment, I am just missing Ecuador!)"

Maria Bazzigalupi, Regional Specialist for the Americas
“I started travelling and living abroad from the age of four and haven’t stopped since. This very early start at school in Argentina, Brazil, France and Germany sowed the seed for adventure and started a fascination for exploring the world. Some of my favourite experiences include cycling down the Death Road from La Paz to tropical Coroico in Bolivia; diving with sea lions and snorkelling with giant turtles and sharks in the Galapagos Islands; walking over the gigantic and stunning Glacier Perito Moreno in Patagonia and living in a community in the middle of majestic Chapada Diamantina in Brazil.
My travel experiences have also taken me to Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Nepal, Thailand and India. Working in the travel industry is an extension of what I have been doing all my life; creating exciting and adventurous itineraries that represent real and genuine life-changing experiences. After travelling and living extensively in Latin America, I can whole-heartedly recommend it as the ultimate destination to explore. Life seems to make sense when travelling. I am passionate about helping others to plan their trips and make their travels enriching and memorable.”

Aisling Bull, Regional Specialist for Africa
“Growing up under the flight path of Dublin Airport as a child can only have been a contributing factor in the development of my passion for travel. A career in teaching presented me with the opportunity to live, work and travel in a diverse range of countries. My first overseas position was in Lusaka, Zambia. They say that Africa gets into your blood; I can still distinctly remember the smell of the damp ground after a recent downpour, the stunning contrast of the fallen purple jacaranda blossom against the burnt red earth on the drive from the airport to what was to be my home for the next three years; it still hasn’t left me. Now settled closer to home, a career in travel seemed like the best way to fulfil the persistent wanderlust. Although I have lived and travelled in other countries around the world, Africa remains my first passion. Having the opportunity to share my amazing experiences by working in travel seems like the perfect recipe for happiness!”

Anneli Rudiger, Regional Specialist for Africa
“I was born in the South Africa and grew up in Namibia...so needless to say Africa is a part of me! From summer rains to endless starry nights, rough camping to game drives, sleeping mats to luxurious lodge beds, I love Africa in every way. I have always worked in tourism, having started my career working in a lodge near my home, then working for inbound operators back in Namibia. I came to the UK to travel and see “what’s out there” but got straight into tourism again. I've travelled to various African countries such as Botswana, Mozambique and South Africa and still enjoy going back to see my family on a regular basis to recharge.”

Hannah Cuss, Product and Customer Service Executive
“My childhood holidays generally involved travelling around the USA visiting colonial towns and civil war sites. With no accommodation booked, we would see where the wind took us and it’s thanks to my intrepid parents that I have the travel bug! My first exotic holiday was to Cuba, followed closely by a seven-month backpacking stint in South East Asia. I loved Asia so much that after a short return home, I set off again for India.
I worked for the groups reservation team for over five years as a Senior Customer Services Executive. During this time I was lucky enough to do the China Highlights, Greek Cruise and Walking la Gran Isla tours. My travel experiences also include Colombia, Morocco, Malawi and Zambia; however my current favourite has to be an overland tour in Jordan and Egypt. Despite the unrest in Cairo, the people were so friendly and the stunning sites of Jerash and Petra, and seeing Tutankhamun’s mask, more than made up for it.”
