Discover Orkney (Ref OR)

Orkney comprises approximately 70 islands of which just 20 are inhabited. The name ‘Orkney’ dates back to the 1st century BC or earlier, and the islands have been inhabited for at least 8,500 years. Orkney contains some of the oldest and best-preserved Neolithic sites in Europe, and is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ancient Macedonia (Ref AM)

Ohrid in Macedonia has a wealth of heritage and is today an important cultural and spiritual centre. Lake Ohrid is one of the oldest in the world and allegedly there are 365 churches, monasteries and other religious sites around the lake – one for each day of the year. To help its protection both the town and lake have been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Journey Through the Balkans (Ref YD)

Pedalling in Poland (Ref CPP)

The folk culture of the people who live in the Polish Tatras, the Gorale, is preserved in their music, their songs and the local costume. The characteristic ‘Zakopane Style’ of timber architecture, which developed around the turn of the twentieth century, is found nowhere else in Europe and has an unforgettable charm.
