How was your Explore Tour Leader?

William was a great leader with a super sence of humour.  Not only did he ensure 14 of us reached Stella Point but did so with great dedication and timely intervention when required.  His skills a a leader for our group as well as the support team was excellent.  Thank you William.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Good preparation of fitness and kit is essential for this trek.  Time spent in preparation in these matters allowed time to enjoy even the most difficult periods.

The mess tent in a group of 16 was a little small, but all huddled together at the end of a long day trekking allowed for a certain level of coziness and increased the comradely within the group.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

There were many highlights, but the best pint was seeing my friend, Andy, who I thought hadn't made the summit, appear, in pain, but grinning, at Uhuru Peak.

Superb,'maximum respect' to Whitey and the rest of the team. They really made the Trek, and no one would have made the summit without these guys. Their endurance and fitness levels are extrodinary.

This is an amazing experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone considering Kili. The best advice I can give is don't under estimate this mountain, and go fully prepared. Take the advice of the Tour crew, as they have vast experience, and if anyone can get you up this mountain it's these guys!

Thank you to all my fellow trekkers, as you made it so enjoyable, and an experience I'll never forget!

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

I think it was seeing Kibo for the first time on the way to Moir Huts. It was such a spectacular - if daunting - sight. Every day was a highlight though as the route is so varied in terms of landscape. And arriving at each camp site where our wonderful porters had set everything up for us.

Whitey was a star. Always had a smile on his face and could not do enough for us. He made us all believe that we really could do this. A great chap - really helped make the trip so memorable.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

We had appalling conditions on summit night, including a blizzard, where our water bottles froze so (1) make sure they are insulated (2) have a good pair of gloves because the nights are soooo cold (3) plenty of bin bags to keep your clothes in because the Shira Plateau in particular is so dusty. Finally, it is tough at times and, for the 2 hours to Stellar Point, very very very gruelling so be prepared for a bit of pain. But as one of our guides said, "pain is temporary, glory is forever!"

A wonderful experience even if the stretch to Stellar Point was the toughest thing I have ever done. A shame we encontered freak conditions on summit night but very proud of wehat I achieved.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

Reaching the summmit was a fantastic feeling and one of the most memorable experiences of my life, it was worth every bit of effort to get there. The entire trek, from base to summit and back to base, was wonderful with some awesome scenery.

This trips counts as both the most challenging and the most fun of my life. Reaching the summit brought tears to my eyes. The sense of achievement is so real.    While we were in the hotel at the beginning of the climb, we had the best advice...don't think about the climb as a whole, just concentrate on each day as it comes and eventually you'll get there.     Make sure you bring wet wipes and spare toilet tissue. Also, whatever the other websites say, don't bring Mars bars or any chocolate with caramel. There's nothing more frustrating than being desperate for a sugar fix and trying to gnaw your way through something with the consistency of a brick.

Getting to the top!!  Great company of the other members of the group.  Get fit for this trip and ensure your training involves steep ascents/gradients.  It's worth being fit you will make the top without too much pain! (KC -3rd August 2011)
