What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

There was no one highlight on the holiday for me as we did and saw so much on this action packed family adventure. How to chooses between the Cu Chi Tunnels, the sights smells and sounds of the Mekong delta,the spectacular arrival by speed boat into Camobdia and pure majesty of the Angkor temples?

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

We have two tour leaders on this holiday/ Our tour leader on the Vietnam and Cambodia leg of this tour was first class and I have nominated him for the 2012 Tour leader awards.He was extremely knowledgable, thoughtful to all members of our tour and everything went like clockwork with him. Sadly, the reverse was true of the guide in Thailand who led us for the last four days of the tour during which she even had one day holiday so we were left with no tour leader. She was also extremely unhelpful and unwilling to sort out any queries or problems.        

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

This is an action packed tour with an excellent mix of things included in the tour but but there is still plenty of free time to do things on an independent basis. Be prepared for some long journeys though.    

Do you have anything else to add?

"I would have rated this trip excellent had it not been for:
1) The poor tour leader in Thailand.Would it be possible to retain the services of 1 leader throughout?
2) The transport from Koh Chang to Bangkok should be by private minibus all the way and no public bus to maximise the time in Bangkok. Our group chose to pay extra to do this in order to save time.

Overall this was an excellent trip and as I understand it, this was the first time this tour has run so hopefully my comments will be helpful.  "

Thank you for your comments about our tour leader in Vietnam, these have been passed onto our local agent. We are sorry you felt our tour leader in Thailand was not to your preferred style, and wish to assure you that we intend to pursue the issues you raise with our local agent. Unfortunately it is not a good option to use our Vietnamese leaders in Thailand and we always encourage local leaders to work in their own country.

As you know, there is the option for customer to pay extra if they would prefer a private bus to Bangkok, however this is a decision which can be made by each tour as many customers feel that, through travelling on local buses, trains and the like, they are able to experience a taste of the culture of the country or area they are visiting, indeed for many, the journeys are as much a part of the holiday as the final destinations reached.

Cambodia was an amazing place and of course the highlight was Ankor Wat

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

We had two tour leaders, which is something Explore should review as the preference is to have the same tour leader throughout.  The Vietnam / cambodia TL (Huan) was excellent and the Thailand TL (Miouw) was the worst I have had on any Explore trip.  She completely failed to step up and manage situations where something went wrong (eg insufficient rooms reserved in Thailand).  the only Explore trip where the TL leaves the group to its own devices on the last day and doesn't organise a dinner.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Other than the TL in Thailand it was excellent.  Be prepared for some long journeys.

This is most regrettable and frankly unexpected as she was judged to be capable at the end of her training. Our Operations Manager will be following this up with our local agent.

Ironically, client satisfaction with regard to the performance of their tour leader is one of the primary reasons why so many of our clients choose to travel with us on a regular basis. We thank you for your kind comments about our Vietnam tour leader.
