What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

Definitely Hells Canyon! This was an extra but more than worth the money. But not for the feint-hearted! It starts off with a long trek up a mountain (made all the harder by having to wear wetsuits in the heat of the day). We then spent about 90 mins abseiling down slippery rocks, dangling off ropes, jumping down 50 feet drops (well, it seemed like it) into freezing cold pools, sliding down through vertical tunnels. Near the end we had to jump down a 20 foot crevice into a small dark pool (contd in box below)

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Isidro (Issy) was a star. Great sense of humour, very organised and endlessly patient with the group members who were struggling with any of the activities. Muchas gracias Issy!

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

If you can afford it, definitely go for the extra activities as they were the most exhilerating and challenging (if that's what you want).  The bike ride was stunning - not overly taxing, but well worth it for the views and scenery. Also, the hotel rooms over the road were much noisier than the ones at the back of the hotel but perhaps there's no choice there.

Do you have anything else to add?

(contd from highlights box): The kids all took off, fearless as usual. Then it was the adults turn: how could I possibly wimp out when I had 10 kids shouting at me from below urging me to jump, and 10 adults behind all praying I'd be the first to drop out so they could too..?But coaxed along by the wonderful Isidro, we all managed. ...and made it back, exhuasted but exhilerated from the biggest adrenaline kick of the holiday!

I didn’t know what to expect from this trip. I hoped there would be lots to do as I was on my own with Mum and Dad!  Canyoning and white water rafting were my favourite things and it was easy to make friends doing the various activities.  At the end of the day we all chilled out mucking around in the pool.  The weather was hot and there was not too much time travelling to get to the activities – which was a real bonus. There was so much going on that the holiday flew by.  I loved it! (FPY - 1st August 2006)
