Solo holidays in the country offer an 'exotic' experience
Travellers planning solo holidays may wish to visit "spectacular" Hong Kong, according to a travel expert.
Piera Chen, who wrote a Lonely Planet travel guide on the destination, noted that the country offers people on solo holidays many benefits, including very friendly countrymen and women.
"It's an intoxicating place - spectacular, exotic and accessible. If you're visiting for business, you'll find pleasure sneaks up on you," she said.
"If you're visiting for pleasure, there's no shortage of locals who make it their business to please."
Lonely Planet is set to publish the third edition of its Encounter guide to Hong Kong. The travel company's Encounter books focus on the more local, secret aspects of a city and not just its largest tourist attractions.
The travel guide company publishes many different types of travel advice book, including Shoestring (for those travelling on a budget), City Guides (focusing on one popular city) or their multi-country travel guides, which focus on a geographical region, such as the Far East.
