Visit Thai capital in August for the festive celebrations
People looking for a place to go on a solo holiday should visit Bangkok as the capital of Thailand is one of the top city destinations in the world, according to research firm Euromonitor International.
The market research company's latest release of its annual Top City Destination rankings has placed Bangkok as second on the list, behind only London and just ahead of nearby Singapore.
Bangkok has many specific events and year-round attractions that tempt the solo holiday-maker to its streets. One of the biggest events of the year is the Queen's birthday celebrations which take place on August 12th.
Around this time, the people of Bangkok decorate their houses. Major public buildings and walkways are also covered in bright colours and lights.
The majority of Thailand's visitors enter the country through the transport hubs in the capital.
Euromonitor International release the Top City Destination rankings every year; the figures show the results of the company's the results of the global travel research programme.
