Island nation is full of 'hidden treasures'
Travellers planning adventure holidays to Australasia should visit New Zealand which - according to writer Caroline Benjamin - is home to some "stunning" views.
Ms Benjamin took a trip across the country, which she recommended as an "epic" journey.
"[I travelled] past vast lakes and mountains galore, to Milford Sound, one of the jewels of the south island. [The] stunning fjord, surrounded by sheer rock faces … is a bit like being in a dream: misty and ethereal," she wrote.
"As you drift out towards the Tasman Sea, 15 kilometres from the wharf, it feels almost as if you could topple off the edge of the earth, so it's little wonder Captain Cook completely bypassed this hidden treasure on two occasions."
People planning adventure holidays to New Zealand may wish to visit the town of Kaikoura, where visitors can fulfil one of the classic 'things to do before you die': swimming with dolphins.
