People can take in coastal or desert vistas on hiking holidays
Turkey offers travellers amazing scenery in both deserts and coasts for people planning a hiking holiday.
In an article listing all the reasons to visit the European and Asian country for the Sunday Telegraph, Sophie Butler names scenic walking as one of the most important.
"Although there are far fewer walking holidays than in France, Italy or Spain, most … feature the Lycian Way, which passes through some of the country's best coastal scenery and archaeological sites," she wrote.
But the coastal scenery is not the only vista that travellers can hope to be astounded by, the desert region of Cappadocia, home to many famous fairy chimneys, is another.
Travellers can "discover some remarkable landscapes" in Cappadocia, which offers "an amazing backdrop to a walking, riding or even ballooning holiday," Ms Butler wrote.
The fairy chimneys of rock that can be seen on a hiking holiday through Cappadocia appear on the reverse of some 50-lira banknotes in Turkey.
