Pottery course in Marrakech medina is 'inspiring'
E-mail Print

Writer puts it in her list of inspiring places

Travellers on adventure holidays in Marrakech may want to consider attending a traditional pottery course in the medina.

That is according to Joanne O'Connor, writing in the Guardian about holidays that could inspire in 2011.

Set to last for three days, the pottery course will be held in the luxury boutique hotel Dar Les Cigognes, from June 13th-16th 2011.

"The course will include two half-days in a local master potter's studio trying out local techniques and learning about the art of Moroccan pottery, visits to galleries and stalls to see local ceramics," Ms O'Connor wrote.

Also part of the course, visitors will be able to attend a dinner with a presentation on the artistic scene in Marrakech, followed by a rooftop party and a performance by local dancers.

Marrakech has a famous medina, which is a walled area of a north African city, often with narrow streets and no motorised traffic. Medina itself translates from Arabic as "town".
