Leon and other inland areas are 'still very traditional'
People looking for cycling holidays in Spain should head inland for a more "distinctive" experience, according to a holiday review company.
Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, noted that even if you only go ten miles from one of the Costas in Spain, you will often find a totally different atmosphere where things are "still very traditional and very Spanish".
Last week, the Holiday Money Report posted by Post Office Travel Money noted that Spain has been rated as the good value destination. Prices in the Iberian country were noted as being at a record three year low.
"If you are looking for a distinctive Spanish or Portuguese experience then you should try and do a little bit of exploring inland rather than just sticking to beaches," Mr Hall added.
The editor added that people often voted for a destination with their wallets and early indications show that people will get a good bargain in Spain - and its neighbour, Portugal - this year.
