There are few better places for family adventure holidays in the summer than Greece, it has been claimed.
Travel writer Sophie Butler expressed her belief that the country offers something for everyone as its islands are so diverse.
She wrote on the Telegraph website: "There are few better places to spend a summer holiday.
"The islands in particular with their spectacular coastlines, brilliant light, azure seas and a pace of life that verges on the soporific, combine matchless beauty with an enduring sense of peace."
Ms Butler added that adrenaline junkies who want to experience an adventure rather than merely relaxing on the beach will also be well-catered for.
Furthermore, culture lovers can see a range of historical sites such as the Acropolis, which is home to a new museum, and enjoy guided tours of other ancient Greek ruins.
Greek wine is also growing in popularity, she added, and visitors can enjoy a tour of the estates near Athens and the Peloponnese.
