Cuba is a 'fine place' for adventure holidays in the winter

Cuba is home to sea and sun

Britons planning to book adventure holidays in Cuba will discover it is a fine place to escape the harsh winter, according to a travel writer.

Louise Steward, writing for the Metro, recently visited the country and claimed that, although it is unlike its Caribbean cousins, it still offers the same climate and white sandy beaches.

She said: "This is a fine place to escape the British winter. It might offer a rather different experience to the rest of the Caribbean but Cuba still boasts the trademark white-sand-turquoise-sea idyll: try laid-back Cayo Levisa out west; the huge dunes of Playa Pilar further east; or Playa Santa Maria, for sun fun near the capital."

Ms Steward added that, with former leader Fidel Castro and brother Raoul both in old age, the country may lose some of its appeal following their demise.

She therefore urged consumers to visit the country now while it still retains the hallmarks of a Communist state.
