Everest Base Camp route is a favourite among people trekking in Nepal
The ultimate activity for anyone trekking in Nepal is a trip to the mightiest mountain in the Himalayas.
While extreme mountaineering that pushes people to the limits of their endurance will come to mind for most when thinking of Mt Everest, the mountain also offers excellent trekking opportunities for regular walkers further down its slopes.
Trekking is actually one of Nepal's biggest attractions with tourists and the Himalayas boast some of the world's most breathtaking natural scenery, on top of great walking routes.
According to the Nepalese Tourism Board, the Everest Base Camp trek is the country's most popular route.

The Everest Base Camp route usually starts at Lukla, with trekkers then heading to the colourful Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar, which is situated nearly 3,500 metres above sea level.
There are actually two base camps on Mt Everest, one on the southern side in Nepal and one on the northern side in Tibet.
