Wildlife film-maker has heart set on trip to Mongolia.
Those looking for inspiration on where to go on adventure holidays may want to consider Mongolia, as leading British ecologist and wildlife researcher Chris Morgan has admitted that it is one of the countries he would most like to visit.
Morgan was speaking to Wanderlust about his many travel experiences, from his first holiday to his top five favourite destinations around the world.
He listed Alaska, Svalbard and South Georgia as some of his most memorable destinations and while some of these were particularly appealing to Morgan because of their wildlife, it is the sheer beauty of Mongolia that has him dreaming of one day heading for this often overlooked country.
"I think I would love the grand landscapes, the welcoming culture, the strange wildlife. I wouldn't go without my motorcycle though – I'm just yearning to belt across the dusty roads, with the sun setting behind distant rugged peaks," he said.
Mongolia's rugged landscape and breathtaking scenery make it an ideal place for those who also enjoy trekking holidays as the vast plains offer many different types of trail for those who like to explore on foot.
The country may become even easier to explore with the announcement that three further rail links will be built increasing its connections with China.
