Morocco's Kasbahs offer plenty of exploration
Anyone planning cycling holidays to Morocco will want to consider a trip to Ouarzazate, as there are great opportunities to bike along the country's famous Kasbah Trail.
According to tourism board Visit Morocco, this old Garrison town is a doorway to the south of the country, and itself boasts the Taourirt Kasbah, formerly the residence of Pacha Glaoui, one of the Morocco's feudal lords.
Beyond the walls of the city, cyclists can travel through the Dades Valley to Boumaine, visiting the many fortresses that populate the area, which has become known as the Valley of the 1,000 Kasbahs.
Holidaymakers travelling by bike will be able to admire the amazing scenery, before taking a welcome break at the Skoura palm grove.
At Boumalne, Visit Morocco notes: "Depending on the lighting the rocks can appear to be red, pink or mauve.
"The Sahro djebel (mountain) begins south of Boumaine where one can observe some of the 150 varieties of birds already spotted in the Valley of the Birds. Don't miss the extraordinary panorama when you arrive at the Tizi-n-Tazazert Pass."
