Istanbul is a unique city that people can explore on solo holidays
Turkey's Istanbul is one of the "world's great cities" and is ideal for people planning solo holidays to the region.
That is according to the Daily Telegraph, which has put together an "ultimate guide" to the Turkish city, with the help of various journalists and authors.
Istanbul is a unique destination - being split across Europe and Asia - and is one of the best destinations in either continent, according to the news provider.
"Without a shadow of a doubt, Istanbul … is one of the world's great cities. Superbly situated either side of the blue ribbon of the Bosphorus … it is split between two continents like no other city in the world," the publication noted.
The writers particularly recommended the old quarter of the city - located at the south end of the Galata Bridge - for its "oriental-fantasy skyline of domes and minarets", which offers a magical solo holiday experience.
