Travellers planning to book single holidays in China should consider visiting the Harbin Ice Festival, a travel writer has claimed.
The annual event has been running for over 20 years and showcases magnificent ice sculptures from both local and internationally renowned artists.
Anna Jenkinson, writing for the Guardian, expressed her belief that the ice sculptures truly come alive at night as brightly coloured lights illuminate the statues.
She said: "The festival is extraordinary, focusing on ice sculptures that are amazing feats of engineering and craftsmanship.
"The highlight of the festival is Ice and Snow World, a park covering an area the size of 80 football pitches, and which is filled with ice and snow sculptures."
Visitors will be able see replicas of the Colosseum and the Egyptian sphinxes, as well as accurate recreations of European castles and Buddhist temples.
The Harbin Ice Festival officially opens on 5th January and runs until 28th February.
