E-mail Print

Holidaymakers can stay in the city and enjoy high-octane activities in the nearby wilderness

Britons planning to book activity holidays in Quebec will find the city offers a mix of luxury accommodation and adventure, it has been claimed.

Josephine Wiggall Lazarus, UK director of tourism at tourism agency Destination Quebec, claimed people staying in the city are merely 45 minutes from the wilderness where they can enjoy a range of activities.

She said: "You don't have to relinquish comfort and luxury for a high-energy intense experience.

"These in the winter can be anything from a three day dog sledding trip, to a four day snowmobiling trip, and these are out in the wilderness but staying in some really great places."

According to hotel occupancy figures from STR and STR Global, Montreal in Quebec reported the largest hotel occupancy increase for the Americas region, rising 15.1 per cent to 63.6 per cent in November 2010.

Furthermore, Canada as a whole reported occupancy levels of 58.9 per cent, an increase of 7.6 per cent.
