Rio is part 'bustling metropolis' and part natural haven
The Brazilian capital of Rio de Janeiro offers people on adventure holidays a stunning mixture of various different elements, according to the tourism board for the South American country.
On its website, Brazil Travel Information noted that this mixture leads to a city with a huge range of activities and attractions for travellers.
"The Cidade Maravihosa (Marvelous City), as Brazilians call it, displays a unique blend of contrasts: a bustling metropolis amidst beautiful mountain ranges, rain forests and wetlands … old traditions juxtaposed with desires for modernity," the body noted.
The organisation also said that people planning to indulge in water sports on their activity holiday will also be pleased, noting: "The beaches in Rio face the Atlantic Ocean, thus providing bigger waves and cleaner waters."
If people want to travel on from Brazil to other nations in South America, the country is an ideal base to start from, as it borders every other country on the continent, apart from Chile and Ecuador.
