Travellers planning to take a family adventure holiday may wish to consider taking a trip to the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia.
According to Sir Ranulph Fiennes, named by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's greatest living explorer, the country was the location of an "amazing" holiday, calling the whole experience his best ever holiday in the Daily Telegraph.
"We stayed in a beautiful hotel close to the Petit Piton, one of two mountains on the south-west coast. Its larger counterpart, the Gros Piton, is directly opposite," he noted.
"The scenery was breathtaking and the weather was amazing. The sandy beaches were ideal for shell collecting and the crystal-clear waters and colourful reefs are every scuba diver's dream."
As well as scuba diving, people taking adventure holidays to Saint Lucia will be able to see beautiful banana plantations and volcanic springs.
Fiennes is also famous as an author, having penned books about his exploration and life, including Mad Dogs and Englishmen: An Expedition Round My Family.
