A guide put together in Lonely Planet Magazine has said the history of Krakow adds to its nature as an ideal cultural destination for solo holidays.
The Polish city is home to many attractions and is great to see on foot, the guide goes on.
"Poland's medieval capital has miraculously endured wars and oppressive regimes, to become one of Europe’s cultural treasure troves," it reads.
"The city is a delight to explore on foot, from its medieval Old Town to the scores of cellar bars and restaurants."
One of the attractions that the guide-writer highly recommends is the famous Wieliczka Salt Mine, located around nine miles outside of the city.
These salt mines often rank highly on lists of most spectacular sights in Europe. The mine produced table salt from around the 13th century to just four years ago.
At a depth of 327 metres and a length of about 300 kilometres, the mines really are vast. Some of the interesting things to see down in Wieliczka are the sculptures carved out of rock salt.
Some of the more noticeable people to have visited the mines include Frederic Chopin and former US president Bill Clinton.
