In September 2007, Explore became the proud adoptive parent to a beautiful baby elephant who was rescued and transferred to the Elephant Transit Home at Udawalawe National Park when she was only 3 or 4 days old. She has just been released into the wild.
What we are doing
We 'adopted' Serendip and our sponsorship kept her fed and paid for vets bills until she was old enough to be released into the wild, which happened on 23rd June 2012 (see the photo's from her release below)
What you can do
If you are travelling on our Elephant Odyssey (ref FSL) tour you get the chance to visit the Elephant Transit Home where donations can be made locally. Though it is not possible to donate directly to the Elephant Transit Home from the UK, we encourage donations to one of the ETH’s major supporters - the Born Free Foundation - to help keep wild animals in the wild. You can read more about the Elephant Transit Home on Born Free's website or make a donation.
