Adventure Travel Consultant res-erwinv-profile

Next, I’d like to visit Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran or Algeria. Having studied history in the Netherlands, I’m intrigued by the entire landmass of Eurasia and Africa, it has such a multi layered and interlocking history. For me the best way to understand this puzzle is to go out and explore these missing pieces of the puzzle myself - that’s my excuse anyway!

Before working as an Adventure Travel Consultant I was a Tour Leader for Explore. My funniest moment was in Mongolia. I had just given the morning briefing about the tour, about how great and empty Mongolia is (best skies in the world!) and we got into our vehicle with Chagaa our trusted driver. After a five minute drive, in the middle of the Gobi desert in Mongolia, I was asked by customer if it would be inconvenient to stop at the next supermarket, she was a bit peckish …. it was a three day drive to the next village! After her question she realised what she had said, we all found it hilarious!

My best meal abroad was bread rolls with Blue band (only when prepared by Primo in Uganda). When doing a 14 day camping tour in Uganda we had the best cook in Africa, Primo. Every night he announced to the group what was on the menu for that evening, I was always waiting for the bread rolls and Blue band, no cream of leek soup is complete without it!
